19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
